But others have said that Jokke wasn't the easiest person in the world to live with and spent a lot of time gallivanting around with other women. If true, maybe that's what sent Alex into Martin's arms on a permanent basis. Oh there are LOTS of possibilities for juicy stories in that relationship. Too bad we'll never know the truth!
Well this sounds like plausible explanation to me. But, according to Trine, Alex was always belittling him and telling him off. Maybe his cheating drove her to this or Alex's behavior drove him to cheating? Perhaps they both grew tired of each other and sought love in other ppl. Yes there are so many possibilities. Has someone invented the turning a human into a fly machine so one can know what's going on yet?

Maybe she regretted not marrying the other brother. As for her allowance, they should have paid her a lump sum and leave it at that. She is no longer a Princess so why should the poor Danes pay for her lifestyle.

Isn't it just money for the expenses of raising the princes, which any divorced custodial parent would get? Just vastly inflated to take into account the fact that they are royal? It does seem a bit harsh to talk about cutting her income off.

Alex shouldn't be supported by the Danish tax payer, yes a lump sum would have been the smart way to go. But when it is all done, Alex was an excellent princess for Denmark.

Indeed. Alex would have brought out the best in Fred.

Trine does seem to have an ax to grind about Alexandra, doesn't she? And she can deny it until she's blue in the face, but I really believe that she perceives Alexandra as truly un-DANISH!! I thinks she just sees Alex for what she really is, a massive greedy gold digger Alex is also turning into a desperate media whore since Jokes got engaged. What's with the interview on how religion is so important to her, if she was such a good christian she never would have divorced her husband and slept around with a younger man. Alex should read the bible a bit more then she does, especially the parts on adultery and fornication. For someone who is intelligent she really comes across as a tool giving this interview.

Amen sister kitty! But your comment makes me think of something. Does anyone think Alex was caught off guard by J & 's romance and ensuing engagement?

I disagree. I think Alex works closely with Margrethe and the rest of the DRF (other than Mary, who is marginalised). The DRF are in charge of Alex's PR - even maintaining her website. They know they have a good, trusty resource in Alex, and they're getting their money's worth from her. She is something of an insurance policy in case Mary, having failed to learn Danish, is sent packing into obscurity (and D list celebrity in Australia) with trunks full of Prada and some jewellery. Alex would steer the DRF's image through a minefield while Fred sorts himself out and finds a partner who will enhance rather than age and ultimately aid his self-destruction (clearly sequenced in the media, from happy chap to a guy who looks as though he HAS been through active combat ...

But shouldn’t Alexandra waive that particular privilege? Is it not contradictory or even hypocritical to claim the right to vote as a common Danish citizen while, at the same time, living on a royal allowance paid for by the Danish taxpayers?
Didn't Alexandra end up not voting? I guess she can't please anyone...some think she should've exercised her right to vote, others think as the mother of two princes she shouldn't. It is becoming increasingly difficult to justify the 2 million Danish kroner that Alexandra receives annually – especially as the world-renowned Danish healthcare system is cracking up, leaving cancer patients to die because of lack of treatment.
So now she's being blamed for dying cancer patients? At least she pays taxes that pay back into the Danish healthcare system. What about the Danish royals, who's expenses are increasing every year yet they pay no taxes.

Can't see the big difference between a lump sum or a regular allowance - they both come from the Danish taxpayers!

True, Alex wasn't born Danish, but she worked hard and embraced the country, yet she treats Mary with gentle kid gloves for the most part. Maybe it is a race issue, who knows.
I think she has denied the race issue. But somehow I doubt it. No racist like to be called racist Exactly! Some people also like to beat around the bush and belittle the country and background Alex came from, when deep down all they really want to say is "I hate you because you are not white and you do not deserve a life better than mine". Pathetic isn't it?

There are lot more issues could be solved with current royals, not so much with ex royals. Alex did more than current Danish royals, is my opinion.

I think it is just a touch of wishful thinking to say that Mary is being marginalised in favour of Alex. Alex is no longer a member of the DRF.

Then why is the DRF maintaining Alex's website I wonder?
