Prior to the celebration in the Westerkerk, the Queen opened the new diary room where all the diary papers are on display.

At friday Beatrix received several foreign guest at Huis ten Bosch.

The first was the Canadian premier Stephan Harper. Also Princess Margriet attended the lunch, at the one hand because she was born in Canada and has special bond with the country and at the other hand because she and her husband will visit Canada in the next days. (The Dutch royal family is still very gratefull for the hospitality the Canadians showed while their exile in Ottawa. That's why they send them thousands of tulip bulbs every year)

Later the days one of the Queen Mothers of Bhutan arrived for a visit. Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck is one of four Queen Mothers and actually the aunt of the present King. (His father married four sisters http://en.wikipedia.org/w...gye_Wangchuck#Family_life)
Johan wrote on the BRMB that when the (present) Queen-Mother (back then the Queen) of Bhutan learned about the news of Prince Claus' death, a special service was ordered in Bhutan. This gesture deeply moved Queen Beatrix and her family. Beatrix and Claus also studied the countries of this region intensely back in the 60's and 70's. Back in 2007 Alexander and Maxima paid a visit to the present King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
All in all the visit looks very cordial.

This photo is a good example on what is wrong with the QueenBee's fashion style:
She wears a jacket on what seems to be a shift dress all in a silvery grey with grey tights (she is an old gal so OK!!) and lower heeled black patent shoes, jewels: grey pearls and an assortment of bangling bracelets in white and yellow gold.
The whole thing should be a triumphant A++++.
However: the jacket screams Mabel with horrid bows, the shoulder part is horrid (it is the new millenium, we prefer the shoulder cap to go smoothly into the sleeve without the "cute little" hiccup) the V neck is too immensely too big -at that age it should end in the middle of her breast bone, we would still be able to see the details of her underneath - no need to cut the Mariana trench into her jacket and place a strategic bow on your navel...
The whole cut is so unflattering that it hurts....
However at least it doesn't have her usual bat-woman sleeves...

Holiday is over, although it was a very soft entree back at work at wednesday. Beatrix attended the "Hardzeildag" aboard her "Groene Draeck" at the Sneekweek
She clearly enjoyed it.
