I apologize if this topic should be under royal jewelry or has already been covered. Can anyone comment on the tiara Marie wore to the 2009 New Year's reception? Has she or anyone else in the DRF worn it before? Is she merely borrowing it, or will she be gifted with one of her own? I think the tiara is very beautiful and am curious as to its value, provenance, etc.

someone mentioned that its her wedding tiara just the bottom half removed?? i think its still on loan. which is smart since marge gave alex a tiara that had family sentimental value and alex wont give it back.!

Itghink that those family heirlooms belong into the family. And of course family members can wear them. However just as you decline to be a fam. member you have to say byebye to the bling blings too. Easy as that....

Why on earth should she give it back when it was a gift for her

Alex's wedding tiara was a gift and imo it's a gift Margrethe probably regretted as the family lost a major piece of jewellery forever. I've always thought that i why Mary was given such an insignificant tiara; the possibility of another divorce and another tiara was one the RF did not want to risk.

I thought so too. It must have been a rude awakening for Margrethe; welcome to the 21st century where princesses leave if they don't want to play the game anymore.. and they take their tiaras with them.

Excellent assessment. Mary's ruby parure she uses, though of magnificent and historical value, is not hers to keep in case of divorce so the small tiara/necklace she was given won't be missed at all and has no significant attachment to the DRF. Unlike Alexandra's tiara....

perhaps by Daisy buying MEdiana's cheap tiara, she knows that there WILL be a divorce in Fred's marriage? G

About Alexandrine tiara, I do think Margaret somehow knew that the tiara one day will be back to her descendant (trough Nicolai or Felix) unless Alex's toy boy's able to convince Alex to sell it for him herself once bankruptcy hits them.

Naaaaaaaaah, Alex won't do that. I still think she is a classy lady, better than those two brunette barbies who are playing princess now. And indeed, the tiara isn't lost for the DRF, it will probably be worn by the future mrs. Nikolai and/or Felix.

Alexandra classy lady? Well, having a toy boy beside her, trying to look young for him and considering going to parties for celebrities as work doesn't meke her classy in my eyes

ITA agapi. Although I do think Alex has enough common sense to know that it would be a disaster if she sold that tiara or let it leave the family, except with Queen's blessing (e.g to charity), though such blessing would be highly unlikely.

Yes, I don't find classy but I find her very clever not to do something like that.

LOL, that sounds as if you are not ruling out the possibility that Felix might eventually wear the tiara himself. Good on you.... Anyways, now I have that image in my head of Martin wearing the tiara around the house and singing:" It's raining men halleluja...."
