A pity that Alberts uncle Charles wasn´t the King.

He would have been a good king, but he wasn't loved much, not even by his mother Queen Elisabeth! Thumb down

She did good things, but it was a little shock to hear, that she was a terrible mother.
Charles didn´t go to her funeral. I would like to know how Belgium would look today with Charles as a king and his children (who would be strong willing, I bet).
Ah, that point: He wasn´t allowed to marry a commoner. Leopold III. and Elisabeth were against it.  No

I read up on Prince Charles on TRF.  Does anyone know about his only (and illegitimate) daughter who still lives in Belgium?

From the little I've read about the Belgian monarchy and aristocracy, I feel there are some interesting and very controversial stories even to rival the British royals and aristocracy.  Are most of the books on Belg royals/aristocrats in French?

And I thought that the superreligious is Astrid and Fabiola, Mathilde lived with her boyfirend before marrying no? Not very religious  Thinking

She didn't live together with a boyfriend as far as I know. And yeah, she is very religious. How that combines with a short skirt with a high split, I don't get either. Only Laurent isn't a member of that sect the family goes to.

To be fair, recognition means to Delphine: getting a regular paycheck, living in a big house, being seen as member of the royal house,... Albert can't do much more than he does now.

I think it was here that I read that Mathilde was living with her aristocratic boyfriend when he left her for another woman. But I don't know if it's true or not.  Smiley

Zinzen I agree completely in your analysis of Paola an Albert, if Phillipe was the king right now I doubt that they would still be together. Who is less classy that Claire? Astrid?

albert can certainly do much more than he does now as what he does equals to nothing. Thumb down

if delphine is albert's child, which by all account she seems to be, then albert should admit to it and recognize her. that's the least he can do. it's extremely violent and abusive of a parent to pretend that a child is not his.
