I think it's just a lack of social grace... in today's society amidst all the reality tv and people becoming famous for doing nothing worthwhile... just fame from being outrageous on camera and in tabloids.  Showing your knickers when getting in and out of cars might seem like no big deal to her... unfortunately.  Her family isn't exactly known for their social grace... on Wiliam's side, I only see the Queen as having it.  But, then, she is THE QUEEN...

Is Kate the first time a commoner has a real chance to marry into the BRF? What about Fergie or Sophie Wessex then? As for Kate supposedly not "behaving with dignity and class", I'd say she's considerably more dignified than vulgar Sarah Ferguson and Sophie who was photographed at a party with her shirt lifted and an entire bare breast exposed!

Shos, Little Star and Divinemiss, quite agree with you on the crotchgate-issue. 
I think the comparison with party-scene-celebs is superfluous, as being "naughty" and scandalous is what they live for, since it is what sells and what keeps them in the spotlight.
It is not appropriate behaviour for a future Queen, wondering if a crotch-pic of Kate, Princess of Wales should be excused as well, since it is sooooo difficult to get out of a cab, and the paps are so mean? After all that pic will sell even better...

If anyone really wants to see how one should get out of a car wearing a short skirt, just look to Dita Von Teese.  Check out video of her arriving to fashion shows and getting out of a car-- she keeps her legs closed and swings them out together, putting both feet on the ground and simply standing straight up!  When she gets in, she does the same thing in reverse, stand with legs closed, sit, and, keeping legs together, swings both legs into the car!!  And it's not awkward, just one full, smooth motion.

Either you care to do it the right way, or you don't... simple as that.

Doce Vita - I absolutely agree with you on the correct way to exit a car. However, bear in mind, that London hansom cabs are not built like a regular car or a regular taxi you see in other cities. Specifically, the seat is set a lot higher (so you literally have to "climb" into a London hansom cab) and then rather than have the passenger door right beside the seat, a London cab has the door on the side but further upfront . Which means that in order for someone to "swing her legs out together and put both feet on the ground", the girl would have to have legs as long as a gazelle and also be able to twist her body like a contorionist in order to exit a London hansome cab. If you don't believe it, try exiting a London cab in the way you described above the next time you're in London. It can't be done!

Thanks Divinemiss!  What would this or any discussion board be without some healthy debate, right? Oh and to set the record, I've never been banned. But I am still officially on holiday (mix in with some work) until mid-October so will be on very sporatically! I'm sure you'll let me know if Kate does anything (or more likely doesn't do anything) for the next few weeks!
