Derf has now been crowned. He said his oath in French.
EB celebrates  the good news with this front cover.
Stupid Fred- Today Fred makes  his life's the biggest mistake.

I thought it was when he married Mosh?? Why didn't EB run this cover on May 14th 2004?

Come to think of it, perhaps this is all a big misunderstanding: Fred may have misread the invitation as a big ØL-fest (beer party) instead of an OL-fest.  Beer

Boy, is he going to be disappointed! Halo

Politiken Editorial: Very interesting
The Crown Prince's faltering sense of politics is a bad sign for the future - especially now that he has been admitted in the IOC.

Excerpts
Quote
The most positive that can be said about the choice of Crown Prince Frederik for a new member of the National Olympic Committee, IOC, is that his profile fits perfectly into the gallery of sporting bosses:

Denmark's Crown Prince is himself a symbol of succession and inherited privileges.
But because of his royal heritage Crown Prince Frederik will hardly be able to lead the otherwise needed reforms that could make the IOC  a transparent and modern organization.
The inclusion of Crown Prince Frederik also creates a different and crucial problem at home: He and the rest of the royal family in Denmark will not be able to maintain their role as politically neutral.

On the contrary, he has already his candidacy crossed the border between the ceremonial and political.

I think the CP is doing really well. He is a unique guarantee that we will have a republic within a few years. His handshake to Samaranch and the IOC will be the beginning of the end for the monarchy and their state paid luxurious life. Go Ringo!

Anyone think this is Frederik's plan. He never really wanted to be King, but is too much of a coward to go against Mummy and abdicate. If he brings down the monarchy "accidently" (with Mummys blessing, ie she supported his IOC 'dream') then, hey presto, he doesn't have to be King! Plus Mary's not likely to stick around if she no longer gets to be Queen - two birds with one stone!    Jumping

"Brothers in arms" aka "Brothers in Beer, as in Prins Pilsje meets Tuborg Fred". And that, dear readers, is the future of our countries...........

What you really mean to find out is:
how many members take their position serious and really are there for the athletes and the sport    vs
how many members are there for the goodies, the membership in the old boys club and thus will vote for people like Fred....

I am not surprised you got stuck....

English journalist Andrew Jennings was at the IOC press conference after Derf was crowned. He asked Fred how he felt being in company of Samaranch et al etc. Derf declined to answer. Jennings once again reminded him that he had not answered his Q.
Here is Jennings opinion of Derf's performance at the press conference.

Jennings:Derf will be sent to a couple of terribly unimportant meetings abroad to keep him off the streets and out of the pubs at night. Its just a waste of money

It's a joke, of the nepotism kind, all those that voted are as bent and twisted as butchers hooks anyway, in the real world Derf (and the same applies to Yrma) would have been less than mediocre employees, in non descript jobs, earning less than average salaries, and this kind of 'decorative' post dropped into his lap for one reason, his name, or at least, the prefix, HRH, which flashes likea neon light to some idiots!  Crazy
