I didn't know, where to put this article (msn starlounge), so I stuck it in here because it effects Nikolai/Felix Countess Alexandra has lost her father, Richard Nigel Manley. After a short illness, he died Wednesday at a hospital in Vienna. He was 85 years. Countess Alexandra was with her mother Christa and sisters Nicola and Martina at his side as he slept peacefully. This was stated by Countess Alexandra said in a statement. Richard and Christa Manley had a close and warm relationship with Denmark as Alexandra in '95 married Prince Joachim. The couple moved after the wedding from their home in Hong Kong into the lodge at Schackenborg Castle to enjoy their retirement and help Alexandra. Here they engaged themselves in the local area, and Christa Manley offered cooking courses in Chinese cuisine at Schackenborg Slotskro. After Joachim and Alexandra's divorced Joachim invited his former in-laws, in the meantime had also become grandparents for Prince Felix and Prince Nikolai, to remain. But when Prince Joachim two years ago married Princess Marie, Richard and Christa Manley decided to move to Vienna, which is Christa Manley hometown. Funeral takes place in silence. That's really sad!

My condolences to Alex and her family. It's so hard to lose a life long partner.

That is very sad news indeed. My condolences to the family. Will Joachim be present at the funeral? I can see him doing that.

He probably will. After all, Mr and Mrs Manley lived in Schackenborg until the beginning of 2008...

Well, condolences to the Manley relations. It's sad, but in a gentle way, if the man was 85 and had had a happy and productive life. A sudden death after a short illness at that age is a blessing if you ask me. The funeral - well, is there even a precedent on whether Joachim should attend? Probably not, not many divorced and remarried Danish princes ever been in this position. Joachim will be thinking primarily of his 2 older sons, would it help if he was there? etc, also, maybe a bit cynically, of whether it would show him in a compassionate, above-any-bitterness light if he did attend - or am I being cynical myself? I guess the call is down to the Manley family, whether they would want him there, did Joachim and ex father in law have a close relationship ever, for example. As regards Marie, I doubt she would have a problem with Joachim paying his respects, she comes across as a gracious and generous lady. Alexandra, you were lucky to have had a dad for so long.

I think Joachim would be at the funeral. Not only does he and Alex have an amicable relationship (they have even gone to events together with both their new spouses) but the Manleys lived on Joachim's estate even after the divorce so I would think that Joachim was close to his ex-parents in laws.

i expect him to attend. apart from the fact that mr. manley was his father in law and continued to live on his estate after his divorce with alex, he was also the grandfather of his children.

Alex looks really old and really sad in this photo. Losing her father has clearly affected her deeply.

Alexandra has been looking old for some time now. The lack of royal servants is taking a toll on her.

Luna, Those photos are really scary! Wow! I wonder what on earth is going on with her, it is not like she has to hustle everyday to put food on the table. It must be the loss of the royal servents like you said! Something is just not right in her world.

How old are you all? That's called being nearly 46 and under the stress of losing a parent and clenching all the frowny facial muscles. Otherwise, she looks really good, as we all know.

I'm Alex' age and I do not look very different from her. It's called middle age... The strains of grief are really showing on her, which is natural and hey, even Martin looks at least 40 in this pic.
