Mary who?

« Reply #15 on: January 18, 2010, 02:39:57 PM »

Well, well, yet another totally insignificant patronage for La BonBon. Sofar she has The Tonder Festival (hardly worth mentioning), the French speaking association (same), something with an university (not a patronage) and Unesco Denmark. Unesco is a worthy patronage imo. The rest is fluff, fluff and more fluff.
What causes this??
A. the men in grey reaaallly do not want her to overshadow Mary.
B. BonBon really is a dimwit after all.
C. There really isn't anything for her to do in Denmark (most probable cause imo), as everything is already "taken".
D. She really doesn't care and is indeed as lazy as she said she was.

Why can't they give her something with a social or medical issue?? This is all just much ado about nothing!!

Why isn't it worth mentioning? - you must have a reason for saying so. Thinking

lupina

Since when does a local Folk Festival need Royal Patronage?? Surely they can find somethig more important for her...

Since when do they not Huh? It's a local event obviously. Joachim and Marie lives in the area. I don't know how often they do the festival (probably once a year) and I do think Marie should work more but I don't see why she shouldn't support them when they ask. Too much of what F&M do are located in Copenhagen and surely they deserve to see some royals in Jylland too. Besides - I also don't think Marie is allowed to do much. And she's on maternity leave. Also probably still learning Danish. I'll give her a few years before I'll bash her for being too lazy.

But seriously, they do put their royals up for ridicule, if they think it is worth mentioning that she is now "Patron of the ski- org".
I most certainly could be wrong of course, but on the overall scale of all things important to Denmark, skiing probably outranks boomeranging and cricket by only a narrow margin.
I'd have a much higher respect of them, would they concentrate on two or three important patronages and the rest of course is part and parcel of their job. But nothing to add to their agenda as if it was as important as a world leaders meeting.

Isn't Joachim Patron of a lot of organizations having to do with farming and agriculture as well as various cultural events?     As Marie learns more about her new homeland perhaps she will be allowed to pick up more work for the Greymen at the ZCourt------------but she must neverr over shadow the Icon so they may try and keep her away from Copenhagen organizations and let her pick up smaller bits from other parts of the Country.
She seems to be an excellent Mother and Wife..................in this she certainly over shadows the Icon

I kinda like the idea of Marie working as the patron for orgs that are in Jylland.  It does seem like most of the patronages that the royals support are in Cph.  Its nice that J&M have patronages in other parts of the country.  It probably means something to the Danes who dont live in Cph.

Exactly Fairy. Unless she starts organising skicamps for the underprivileged children of Denmark and actually teaches them how to ski it's just another fluff thing. And you are so right about it getting presented like another Royal starts saving the world singlehandedly. No need to be superwoman, but boy, a little more substance would help her a lot. Can't Henrik Sr. give her some of his patronages?? And not another little thing like the French speaking union.

There is simply not prof that she has any work ethic or social ethic not in her past and not in her present

can't she help her area with something more meaningful than attending a festival

As a couple of you have already mentioned, I think that she is not allowed to get patronages with "serious" meaning or cause, because of Clown Mary.

Can you imagine PMarie getting patronages in the medical field, or social field (homeless, women, children), and this patronage getting more attention than CPM is getting - it would be a disaster Yes

And honestly, I think this patronage is as good, or as bad, or as important/unimportant than CPM patronage of fashion is....please, there is so much crap going on in the world that fashion and skiing is the last thing people should waste their time on.

I'm glad that she is getting at least something, because "horder Mary" does not like to share the limelight with anybody, especially when the other person could make her seem like a shlomp. Icecream

lol. the proof is in the pudding. except in marie's case. the pudding gets thrown out to create a new fluffy sugary thing.

PeDe, the Crown Princess will get the more important patronages. no doubt about that. they usually also prefer to have a CP as a patron rather han the second wife of the second son. but i can definitely imagine marie having serious patronages, no matter how hard posters pretend that she is not allowed to outshine mary.

UNESCO is a good place to start, isn't it? It fits well with her work with the University of Southern Denmark IMO. Two quite non-fluffy things she supports Smiley

I don't think it's strange. She knows about studying and livng abroad after all, and she's good at languages. And it's nice to see her do more work connected to the region she works in.

I meant the involvement of royalty and university but I know It's works that way in Europe (my friend who  studies in Scotland met prince Philip in her university)
so I meant strange from my perspective so yes It is a good patronage
and I do think that something a to do with art could fit her too then we won't see pics of Mary akwardly standing next to an artist who didn't drew her

well, yes, the unesco is a nice patronage. which proves actually my point that she can have them. Wink

now re work, i personally think it's a bit much to say "work" when they mostly just show up and look interested. nevertheless, it's good for the orgs to get the endorsement.
