there were many comment that pauvre marie is not allowed to outshine mean s-i-l and can only get minor patronages... i don't think that marie wants more patronages than her s-i-l. Maybe - maybe not. We are all speculating because none of us know Marie. However, I think that even if Marie wants more patronages, she will not be allowed to outshine the "icon". Not by the palace and it looks like the butt-kissing magazines is going to go along with the Palace is their worship and positive spin on Mary.

Let us let Marie grap withever bones are tossed to her.....................lets face it the Icon will NEVER allow her to grab onto anything substantial..... at least Marie seems to be doing a good job as wife & mother (a lot more than the Icon ever did in these two jobs)

Let's get some facts on the table for people who claim to know so much about Tønderfestival. First of all it takes place locally, but is NOT a local festival. It is an international music festival (like Roskilde, Iceland Airwaves, etc), but the focus is solely on folk music, all the acts in the folk genre. Here's a list of some of the acts. Please read and then tell me this is an unworthy patronage. http://www.tf.dk/pages/mu...p?id=169&set_menu=169Some other facts: This was one of Alex's first and most cherised patronages There are over 2000 volunteers - so much for being local and insignificant Alex was also patron of the English Speaker's union. Funny how people's opinions about patronages and causes are tied to their opinion of the princess who is its patron.

Thanks for the info thrilla.
I hadn't realised that Tonder was similar to Roskilde- I've always wanted to go to that!

Does anybody remember seeing Marie ski on the doco about her shortly before she married - i believe you can still watch it online. Anyway, there's this great bit where she goes cruising down the hill and very narrowly avoids smacking into someone at great speed. When I see it, I can't tell if it's a sign of excellent skiing (ie - narrowly avoiding a crash); or poor skiiing (ie - being in line of someone else in first place). Given that people moving on the snow-fields, and unable to read others' minds, I tend to lean toward the former. either way, it's a great moment. If anyone wants to see it again but can't find the link, let me know and I'll dig around for it!

I haven't seen the footage but as a baby skier and baby surfer I can say that I've always been told that the ones with the experience will skillfully move out of the way to avoid me and therefore that if I find myself going towards someone, not to worry! They will avoid me! However, I'm sure it was as you say in regard to Marie.
