Canada is about to be invaded by Fred and Mary, I've read on another fourm, that Fred will arrive in Canada on the 9th of Feb and Mary will join on the 11th. The will "assist" with the Opening Ceremony and several competitions. Fred will stay until 19th and Mary leaves on the 16th. No doubt, Fred will be working hard.

I can see why Mary wouldn't want to stay around, Australia doesn't have nearly the athletes as they do at the Summer games.

Well well well - someone should alert the Danish press to keep an eye on Corey Kimm - as no doubt Amber and Mary have "hard partying" plans in Canada in the next few days, and Amber will include the boyfriend (maybe. Maybe not!)

Woo-HOO! Getting feral on Whistler Mountain! Sounds like the title to a bogan bodice-ripper! I wonder if Mary has an Olympics boyfriend now, she goes to each one of these games. Maybe she's ready to let loose with Amber and her new man candy, even if she doesn't have an OL honey. If Cory's indeed rather thick, it may just work for them to share him, while Mary picks up the tab with Fred's Amex.
Unless Mary doesn't want Amber to come and instead slips away for a few days at Canyon Ranch while Fred parties in the Playboy tent again.

One wonders how long Amber Petty managed to hold her tongue before telling Cory Kimm about her association with Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Crown Prince Frederik. I wonder whether Cory checked out the SAFM website and noticed Amber's proudly displayed D through to E school reports. Maybe he thought they were referring to cup sizes or something!

I can't but wonder why the royals go to the Olympics. And wonder whether they did until Silvia stumbled on Carl Gustaf in Munich in 1972. Seems such an unroyal event, really. But perhaps I'm wrong and they've always been keen on Olympics. I know it's about being there more than anything else.
Oz has 30-odd athletes in Vancouver, so ME doesn't want to hang around too long, as others said.

Mosh is not a winter person.....probably hates the season with passion, and probably does not know a thing about any winter sports, including skiing. So I don't think she will hang around the area long.

At the Summer Games, the Aussie swimmers are arguably the highest profile members of the Aussie team. As I recall, moshie showed up a a number of swimming events including some of the key finals involving Aussies - as well as many Michael Phelps finals. I recall that a number of times she showed up she didn't have tickets and just sweet talked and bullied her way in (whatever it took) and probably taking a seat away from a swimmer's family member. Incredulously, she attended these Aussie events instead of various events where Danish athletes were competing for medals (table tennis). So leave it to mosh to have done her research and figure out the highest profile athlete amongst the small Aussie team - perhaps the 15-year old snow boarder? - and then show up at that event to get her mug on Aussie TV. Apparently there is a mini-controversy in Vancouver already involving the Aussie "fighting Kangaroo" flag that the Aussie team has hung on the side of one of the dormitories and the IOC has ordered them to take down. The flag story been covered extensively in Aus and on the US networks. mosh will be right on top of this kind of thing and look to insert herself right in the middle chasing the television cameras. Are any Canadian RD'ers going to the Games? Would be great to find out where moshie is staying and get an eye witness account of her obnoxiousness.

Well, they've historically participated in the Olympics, some in Summer, fewer in the Winter games (Some names: King Olav, King Harald, Constantine II, Prince Albert of Monaco, Princess Anne, (Queen Sofia), Princess Cristina, Prince Felipe, Juan Carlos, Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden. etc...) As well as recently with royals from the middle east. And there have been royals opening the games when they're hosted by a monarchy (Prince Philip opened in Australia in '56, and QEII in Canada in '76, later games in Commonwealth countries have been opened by the GG): King Edward VII (1908) King Gustaf V (1912), Albert I of Belgium (1920), Prince Hendrik (1928), King George VI (1948), Princess Ragnhild (1952), Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (1956), Emperor Showa (1964), Emperor Showa (1972) Queen Elizabeth II (1976), King Juan Carlos I (1992), King Harald V (1994), Emperor Akihito (1998) So there have been royal participation before Munich. But it also bears in mind that transportation across major distances became easier and easier as time went on. And the notion of supporting one's athletes has also become more in front.

Hah, and she's married into a country where the winters are long!
