Oh my LORD!!!  The most amazing thing EVER has just happened in the House of boof--my husband--who once described Mary as 'that delectable creature'--just had a look at the above picture, and said in almost-but-not-quite-shock-horror:  "Oh my God, Mary looks old in that picture.  How old IS she?  She's not very attractive now."

boof promptly fell off her chair and began flailing in hysterical laughter, trying to get a grip on the life she'd grown accustomed to.  Husband thinks Mary looks OLD?  AND not-so-attractive any more???

Champers, champers for everyone!!!   Champagne Champagne Champagne  It's time to celebrate!!!  Banana Banana Banana

I knew he'd come round, eventually!  I knew that there was still hope!!

I think we should renew our vows........

Boof congrats, but seriously I wasn't very concerned: after all Mr Boof is married to you, he couldn't be all that deluded.

Back to Mary and the "save the mothers" patronage.
It is certainly a great cause and seriously she (La Mare) doesn't look worse (but also not better) than the ladies next to her on the pic.
Unfortunately Mary simply desn't have any presence or personality. Look at a pic of the QueenBee and two other ladies and your question would be: " Who is that lady in (whatever colour) with those two women holding a lalala?" whereas with that pic you wouldn't even be tempted to find out who those woman are or what the purpose was, let alone notice one over the other.

As to Marie over Mary:
I find it so very telling that those patronages are distributed exclusively: Both Mares are young (cough cough) mothers, both should be moved by the tragedies of mothers or their little ones dying due to very preventable causes.
But since this is Mary's pat, Marie can't even blink? Whats the purpose?
Can't they both engage in such charities? Without the ridiculous "My fire - my water" sentiment?
It is such a shame that the two ladies (make that females!!!) are all about "ME" and can't work together for a good cause.
After all it is not about the patron, but about the patronage or better yet all about the people that the patronage cares for...

ITA fairy. It's a really stupid way of organising the workload in a royal house.

Oh dear, fairy I think you might have given the Mary minders food for thought, If I was a betting person I might bet they (minders) read these boards. In the future we might see the 2 Danish princesses being co patrons of some women's/ children's charity just to show the public what good friends they are how much they both have in common raising the next lot of royals. Has that been done before, would certainly gain some attention.

I don't think it has been done before but it certainly is a good idea imo, abby. There are a few organisations besides this one, like the Danish Refugee Council, which would really benefit from a joint patron.

Now if this was "Mary patron of Motherf****rs Organization" then I'd say it would be a perfect fit.
