This is how the Castle was designed  Spiteful Spiteful Spiteful Spiteful

This is truly truly horrorfying. For the sake of Xian and Izzy's sleep I hope the nursery isn't as "artful" Nerves

I finally understand and accept the Danish government's decision to renovate.
The palaces are considered national treasures.

Instead of endearing themselves to the Danes and the long (proud) Danish history of which
they are a part, F&M keep digging a bigger hole for themselves.

The rooms look like if you took an acid trip gone wrong.  No offense to the artists but the artwork looks severely out of place.

And know I read they don't have enough furniture?Huh?  Oh boy...... Dead Dead

ITA, do they not realize that this is not THEIR castle?  It belongs to Denmark!!  Yes, they live there, but they aren't just regular folks with a mortgage.  They live there because they represent Denmark and all things Danish, not only the present and future, but also the long, respected history of the Danish people!!  Trying to "keep up with the joneses" or be trendy is not what's important for their position.  If they want to "be artsy" then they can invest in their own private home and do it... but, don't just p*ss away the country's money on destroying a historic landmark and treasure!! I much prefer historical buildings to be HISTORICAL.
avant garde, trendy, chic => all smells of selling off the heirloom pieces

There was an article in Vanity Fair's January 2010 issue
written by Charles Spencer (Diana's brother) titled "Enemies of the Estate".
http://www.vanityfair.com...nglish-aristocracy-201001
At first, I thought "Not him going off again."
Then I thought "A spoiled rich guy going off about evil step-mothers."
But at the end, I thought "He might be right."

The preservation of history -whether it be rich or poor- is essential but lost when there's no effort.   Cry
Fred is born into history and has the job of upholding it and making himself a part of it.
.....but he's too much of a doofus.
Mary is insignificant.  She's more like the evil step-mother in Spencer's article.
.....less of an asset and more of a parasite for Denmark.
Some could argue that she's the mother of the future King of Denmark.
But she doesn't even raise her own children.   What's she good for?!
History has shown the cruelity of royal/noble children taken from lower-class mothers
and places with nursemaids and nannies.....

Guys - remember the interview of Joachim & Marie, I believe it was before they got married? It was at the Schack, and when asked how she will change Schakenborg after she got married and moved it she said on that note, that she will change things a little here and there in their private rooms, but that one cannot change the historic interior of a castle like Schackenborg and that she likes it as it is.

Not like Mares, turning (inventing) the danish monarchy up-side-down to suit to her selfish and unclassy needs.

I just wonder what the hell will happen when they'll receive heads of states, and other monarchs......hopefully they have a tray with assorted colorful happypills for each and every guest visiting these splendid rooms.

That renovated palace looks like a cross between Versailles and Graceland (Elvis' house in Memphis).

I don't know, I actually think that some of it looks kind of interesting. And I also think that some of the paintings are cool.

It is just the total overload of it that makes it feel like you're looking into someone's acid trip. A wall here and a wall there, I find interesting. (The ceiling, not so much.)
 Yikes

Mares has obviously never cared for the term 'less is more'.  It's been apparent to us who have dedicated time and energy dissecting this creature under all of her Kabuki masks that she doesn't care for subtlety but THIS?!  These murals, art and stupid wall lights are simply the tacky, color block fondant on the four tiered tasteless cake.
