I never really followed why Alex should be such an exceptionally good mother. The boys also spent a lot of time with nannies. As far as I remember Alex never left the house...sorry castle...without a nanny or two. And she always brought a nanny on her private holidays to Hong Kong. Could it be that the boys are so well-mannered because they have an exceptionally good father?? Thinking

 Good post

and any mother who chooses  such  a man as a step father for her kids is not IMO a good mother

Yeah, because a drugaddict would waste cocaine on his shoulders. Makes a lot of sense Smiley

They spend most of their time with Alex in Copenhagen and have been doing that since the divorce. No doubt they've spent a lot of time with nannies when they were younger but it's been years since any nannies have been used, I believe. Questioning how someone is a mother just because you don't like them is quite unfair IMO Smiley

Doesn't change the fact that the nannies were around the boys most of the time when they were younger...and I have every right to question how she is as a mother when she brings a nanny on private holidays. Seems to me she wasn't mother enough to handle her own kids while visiting her own family.

How do you know that nannies were around "most of the time"? And if they were - wouldn't that also have been Joachim's responsibility?Anyway - show me a royal mother who doesn't have nannies attached to their hips. If that makes you a bad mother, ALL royal mother are bad mothers. I don't think one can draw that conclusion. I think one has to look at the child to see how well is seems to be thriving in order to get an idea of how good a mother is. Nikolaj and Felix seems to be happy children - I think both Alexandra and Joachim can be credited for that.

Yes, Maria, I agree but Joachim was way more responsible in the choice of step parent for them

I like Marie a lot more than I like Martin, but I don't know if we can know how things really are for them in private. Anyway - Martin is an ass and he shouldn't even try (if he is) to take over any of Joachim's territory. I really hope he doesn't Ranting

Maria, I'm not saying she is worse than any other royal mother, I'm saying she's no saint mother and there is no need to make her better than other royal moms or mothers in general (well, except maybe one).
But hey, this argument (or similar ones) about Alex has been seen on the board before and never really reached a final conclusion, so let's just agree to disagree Smiley I have a feeling we won't reach an agreement on the subject.
