While I was watching the pictures of Marie attending the COMFU in company of Marianne Engel I wondered about the relationships Marie and Mary have with their Lady's in waiting.

Marie seems to be in full acceptance of her role as the newest member of the DRF and is learning fast to fit in. She is willingly welcoming help and advice from wherever it may come, from Joachim, Marianne Engel and trusted people around her.

At first I didn't think this match was a good one, because Marianne Engel seemed so conservative and a bit mumsy as well, but the longer I look at these two, the more it seems a good fit. So whoever made this decision, I believe it was a good one.

Marianne Engel seems to stay behind whenever Marie feels confident to do things on her own, but also instantly by her side when the hofdame feels Marie needs a bit of support and help. And that's how it should be. Marianne Engel appears to be trustworthy and having a genuine liking towards Marie.

It seems to me that Marianne has a genuine interest to see Marie succeed in her role as representative of the Danish Royal Family.
For Marie's sake I hope Marianne Engel stays around a bit giving her sound advice and helping Marie through the difficult passages in her life to come.

Then I look at Mary and her hofdamen and am cincerely disappointed that Countess Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen left after a period of just two years. This was Mary's chance to soak up some class and sophistication for her role to come.

Unfortunatelly she did not take it and it shows in her behaviour officially/privately. The difference of the hofdamen around Mary now is like day and night. More like going out with girlfriends.

Mary is often standoffish and trying to put herself in the foreground when with her hofdamen, almost like they are competition for her, outwardly and inwardly. I think Mary is very insecure and neither Caroline Heering or Tanja Elise Kjærsgaard Doky are doing much to guide her through this. But I believe that was her choice and now she's running with it.

I still wish the baroness to be around to teach Mary some kind of manners and style.

Oh, well, as it is now one half of Team Schakenborg is on the right track! Wooohooo for Schakenborg.  Thumb up And enought of my Saturday rant  Blush

I get the feeling that Mary's probably in competition with all women.  She doesnt seem like a person who has a lot of female friends.  She seems really aggressive and competitive, and the Baroness probably got fed up with Mary's arrogance and refusal to listen to tips and rules.

I think you both might be right pixie and Hester......normal people can take Mary just miniscual dosages.

It almost looks like Mary sucked the life out of Countess Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen.

Somehow I just don't see thee regal and lovely Countess being one of the Icon Saint Mary "slaves", I am sure the Countess scared the hell out of Mary -- so she just had to go as soon as her term was up.    Wonder if they ever see each other, girlie stuff

I doubt it.  The countess is probably sick to death of Mary and her passive agressive boganisms.   I think that the minute her term was up, the countess got out of there and never looked back.

Yes, but then again. The countess is classy and Mary is a tart. Two people from two different worlds. I'm surprised the countess stayed for two years. And the ladies she has now...they are only licking boots. Who will teaches Mary good manners now ?

No I agree with other RD readers, let Joachim and Marie take over the throne. And let Chip and Dale retire. They can move to Hollywood. With all the experiences they have in acting Im sure they will get roles in a movie.

Mares looks like she has aged 15 years in the 5 or 6 years since this photo was taken - something about being CP (or maybe it's her marriage?  Halo) just isn't agreeing with her.
