While I was watching the pictures of Marie attending the COMFU in company of Marianne Engel I wondered about the relationships Marie and Mary have with their Lady's in waiting.

She is willingly welcoming help and advice from wherever it may come, from Joachim, Marianne Engel and trusted people around her.
At first I didn't think this match was a good one, because Marianne Engel seemed so conservative and a bit mumsy as well, but the longer I look at these two, the more it seems a good fit. So whoever made this decision, I believe it was a good one.

Marianne Engel seems to stay behind whenever Marie feels confident to do things on her own, but also instantly by her side when the hofdame feels Marie needs a bit of support and help. And that's how it should be. Marianne Engel appears to be trustworthy and having a genuine liking towards Marie.
It seems to me that Marianne has a genuine interest to see Marie succeed in her role as representative of the Danish Royal Family.
For Marie's sake I hope Marianne Engel stays around a bit giving her sound advice and helping Marie through the difficult passages in her life to come.
Then I look at Mary and her hofdamen and am cincerely disappointed that Countess Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen left after a period of just two years. This was Mary's chance to soak up some class and sophistication for her role to come.

Unfortunatelly she did not take it and it shows in her behaviour officially/privately. The difference of the hofdamen around Mary now is like day and night. More like going out with girlfriends.

Mary is often standoffish and trying to put herself in the foreground when with her hofdamen, almost like they are competition for her, outwardly and inwardly. I think Mary is very insecure and neither Caroline Heering or Tanja Elise Kjærsgaard Doky are doing much to guide her through this. But I believe that was her choice and now she's running with it.
I still wish the baroness to be around to teach Mary some kind of manners and style.

Oh, well, as it is now one half of Team Schakenborg is on the right track! Wooohooo for Schakenborg.
