Had Diana remained quiet, the British press probably wouldn't have been so restless after Charles' affair with Camilla.
Even though the Scandinavian press is different from the British tabloids, but if Mary decided to go public, nothing could be stopped either. I don't think Mary would behave like Diana, she is too much into the new found status and the black Amex she never had on her own (unlike Diana).

Had Diana remained quiet, the British press probably wouldn't have been so restless after Charles' affair with Camilla. Yes, her actions seemed to unleash even more intrusive media attention. The dynamic you point out is probably true in most places, to one degree or another. Even though the Scandinavian press is different from the British tabloids, but if Mary decided to go public, nothing could be stopped either. I don't think Mary would behave like Diana, she is too much into the new found status and the black Amex she never had on her own (unlike Diana). I agree that Mary would not willingly do anything to extract herself from the black Amex, but she is often stupid with her PR power moves and one day may just burn herself beyond recognition.

Diana had nothing to lose, she knew she was the power in that family from a media perspective and she came from a wealthy family herself, so the money wasn't that much of a motivator to keep quiet.

I think that Diana thought that due to her popularity the "firm" as she called them would insist on her remaining part of it. I don't believe she'd have carried on the way she did if she genuinely thought that there was a chance they'd out her.
Moral of the story: don't believe your own press (mary) don't play games with the media (Mary) and don't ever think you're bigger or more important than the crown (mary)

:beer:Good post divinemiss, well stated and I also totally agree with you. Mary should only look to Diana and Diana's mistakes for her guidence about how you can f*%k up your life with just a few stupid moves.

Mary probably has learnt lessons from Diana, wouldn't make the same mistake no matter what Freddles does. Diana got married very young, she never had a serious boyfriend before Charles, I think she was very hungry for love and tried to use the media/public pressure to have Charles break up with Camilla, herself had tried all she could in private, including trying to kill herself, without any success. Since she didn't want a divorce, humiliating Charles in public was really a huge mistake.

Let's not forget that the person who cheats with Fred and lives to tell about it would bring a whole host of scathing, unwanted press and attention on themselves, their friends and their families. If I was Fred's bit on the side (perish the thought! ), I would certainly not want it to ever become public for that reason alone. Not to mention the possibility of going down in the history books as the disgraced CP's hoochie Nope, I don't suppose anyone in that position would come forward. Look at what happened to Lewinsky. And this is a much smaller country with I would guess 3 degrees of separation instead of the usual 6. Don't think I've ever heard the story of Fred breaking up with Mary in 2001.

Now, I bet he feels the need to add another word on it "I found my killer queen"

The title of this topic is : "Frederik on his love for Mary" ! Fred tries to tell "all about Mary and me". Someone posted on RD an interview of Daisy, in which she compares her 2 daughters-in-law (one is Scottish, the other one is so diffrent because she's French...). Fred wrote a book telling how Danes were bulling his father... I have ONE question : WHY DO THEY TALK SO MUCH about themselves Do other royals make so many comments about their family members or new additions to them !??? They are more and more PEOPLE than ROYALS ! It's time to be more discret.
