... would you have been afraid of getting involved with a man who'd been married once ? I mean, there must have been a really serious reason why Alexandra opted out and left such a privileged life behind. If I had been Marie, I guess I'd be asking myself a lot of questions about why his marriage ended and whether I could be next

This is the same question all those women who date and marry Earl Spencer should ask themselves. I guess when there's a man with a title and wealth lots of girls overlook the negatives and warning signs!

I think so too. They probably get dazzled by the wealth and privilege (although Marie already came from a wealthy background). I wouldn't want my life under a microscope the way theirs is but it would be awfully nice to have the resources that they do. At the end of the day though, I don't think that I could handle it.
On the other hand, I think that it might be really hard for the royals themselves to date. Can you imagine? You would always be wondering if your partner was with you because they genuinely loved you. It would certainly be at the back of my mind. I think it would be really stressful and would ultimately affect your sanity.

This is what I have thought about the issue. I know it now. When alexandra married joachim, she said: She is married to the entire country, not a man. But marie said: she wants to do joachim's wife. This is a two kind of concept. joachim divorce because marie know the reason. and when marie married joachim, she is no longer the focus when the media.

I really don't think that Marie gave it that much thought. She really wanted to be a princess and was very conscious of the fact that she could be living in a palace (she even pointed out to a reporter that Joachim lived in that "big house" all by himself - clearly hinting that she wants to live there herself!) Also, as much as she came from a "wealthy" background, she really has no discernable career skills or ambitions other than being a secretary or PA. It's clear that girls like her really has their eye on "marrying well".

If I had been in Marie's shoes I would have thought this man is married with small children, as he was at the time.

It would all depend on how I liked the man himself, what his values are, the kind of person he is and whether I were really attracted to him physically. Divorce is not necessarily a deal breaker, unless there are bad things like abuse, adultery or some other serious situation, but the other things are. For me his being a prince would count for very little if there was nothing to the man but the title.
As for Joachim himself, I don't think he is as bad looking as some people find him, and I think he may be attractive in person, when other things besides pure looks are on. I've seen Joachim talk on video and his voice is very nice, his English accent is beautiful and he is always articulate. Those things count for a lot imo.

Gwen, for similar reasons, I have a feeling that Joachim in person is just one of those people who is so naturally charming, gracious and attentive that he is actually quite attractive.

That is my view as well. I feel that Joachim is more of a grown up than Frederik, even though I felt for a long time that Frederik was the more handsome of the brothers, now I see him as an immature loser who cannot even manage to speak without stuttering, that is not attractive at all.

And Jokke has the kind of looks that he can grow into. He's tall, athletic. A bit haggard - but with age, that will cease to matter. And he is in an incredibly happy partnership. Jokke has a lilting and pleasant voice, and is educated, cultured and articulate. Crown Prince Frederick is short, and will be roly poly quite soon, as he is no athlete, regardless of the cycling & "frogman" claims. Why did he choose yachting as a sport? He can sit back and let the minions do the sailing. He will age badly - under the sort of stress of a dysfunctional, competitive, unhappy relationship with Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, he will be one of those grey little men that you wouldn't look at twice in the street. And the poor guy will have to look more and more like Napolean in his squat military gear, with a retinue of Mary's relatives as they variously grow up and head for Europe to hunt for freebies - while the tall, dashing Prince JOachim looks better and better!
