Don't get me wrong, Alex is/was a beautiful woman, but I can't help but notice the rapid aging since joining the DRF, just like Mosh. I wonder what causes it?? So far, Marie seems to have been spared.
I think it's the pressure these women put on themselves to "conform" instead of just being themselves. You know, it
is possible to remain yourself and develop the skills and personality it takes to fit in with the royal families......I just
know it is! I'm not saying it's easy, but it is possible. It helps to be brought up a certain way, but if you're not, you're not. It doesn't mean you can't learn. Anybody can be an Eliza Doolittle.
We'll never know what it's like on the inside of a RF, perhaps it's gruelling. But there are so many ladies who have married into RF's and have been absolutely successful--if you define success as being accepted by your peers and the people you represent--as well as setting a good example, being diplomatic, having grace and dignity and self respect and a sense of duty. Of course, the majority of these women I speak of are of an older generation (Grace and Silvia for example......I'm having short term memory loss of other names right now....), but some are not: for example, Maxima appears to have settled into the DuRF and from what I have read she is quite popular in the Netherlands. (Am I misunderstanding her popularity?

)
I don't know......perhaps I am wrong (wouldn't be the first time!), but I just think these ladies set totally unrealistic expectations
on themselves and then struggle to live up to them, and that when the weight issues come in, and the advanced aging, and the haggard looks and the strain on the marriage........it's no wonder it happens.
Something has to givee, but by the time it starts to break down these ladies are in so far that they can't see the forrest for the trees.
I wouldn't mind having their money and maybe some of their privaledges, but I'd be damned if I'd want any of the rest of it. No tiara and title is worth it, IMO.
