totally CD. I don't even speak dansk but the difference in confidence between her and mares (even how mares speaks now) is huge. By the time of that youtube clip, Alex had been in denmark for what, 4 years? She is awesome, linguistically. chick

What I have always found awesome is that she actually quite fast had that special royal accent that you really only hear from Marge and her sisters and to some degree Jokke. Pretty impressive for a foreingner, I must say.

And if I remember correctly, Joachim was more popular than Fred back then. At least, I remember friends and family always spoke negatively about Fred and kept gushing about "kingly" Joachim, though I don't recall any polls - and I always thought higher of Joachim. Cynical me sometimes wonders if Marge consented to the divorce, because it would finally allow Fred the opportunity to outshine his brother in the public opinion. I think if they had stayed married, there was no way that Mary would overtake Alex and the longevity of Jokke & Alex's relationship + beautiful, well-behaved children would have proven a stark contrast to the train-wreck of a marriage of F&M as well as their not-quite-as-adorable offspring. It would have called into question the relevance of first born ascending to the throne and possibly caused some chaos within the DRF.

thoso photos smak of desperation.....defeat and death. yes, i said death. she looks dead inside......she has nothing to project anymore. she is dead to us now.....she is now a pimpmaster, dominix....definitely not royal anymore. And we have the photos to prove it!
Beautypro, you can view my pix when you become a member after one hundred posts and judge for yourself.... I just looked at Barrie's link and A was so fabulous then (and I also happened to be THERE at Rigshospitalet at that very moment and saw from a distance) Alex looked so nice then. now she doesnt, at least in the photo. I still stand by what I said. I understand and agree that some of the picture for the 46th birthday looked pretty bad..She can and does look Beautiful usually. BUT COME ON!! NEED YOU DESCRIBE IT (or her) AS DEATH?? !! She most certainley does NOT look like death or that she i Is DEAD inside. THAT DEATH COMMENT IS FAR PAST ANY EXAGGERATION.. It does not fit.. MAKES ME WONDER??? WHAT THE AUTHOR LOOKS LIKE IF THEY THINK ALEX LOOKS LIKE DEATH....

ANDREW DENTON: Yes. What did... When you first met, what did you see in each other? CROWN PRINCE FREDERIK: What did we see in each other? We saw... Well, it's a bit hard. It's a bit blurry, in a way, because it was just after the Olympics had started and it was one of those evenings where...

You're not the only one who remembers Joachim's popularity. It does make you wonder what would have happened if Joachim and Alex had stayed together. I do think Fred's wife would have struggled to become anywhere near as popular as Alex.

And Alex had a lot more patronages too; certainly more than Marie. So, it appears Alex would have been working as hard (or even more since Mosh does nothing) as Mary.
