Marie's abysmal poll numbers

from the articles posted here i never had the impression that marie got anything but positive press.

imo it's more that people are not blind or stupid and see her for what she is, a girl that is happy to enjoy the perks but has zero interest in working, except when she has no other choice. marie herself said that being a princess of denmark comes second...

very different from alexandra who understood what was expected from her.

Yes, but if you say, that people are not blind and stupid, I don´t understand, why they suddenly would be blind and stupid with Freddles  

I am actually partly thinking, you are right, but IMO there are other factors as well and I find it not all fair to blame a woman for laziness, who became pregnant during her honeymoon and who has a child, who is barely 14m old.

Except Alex was the only princess in the DRF so she did a lot more work than she probably would've if there was a CP and now w/ Mary along, as has been stated before, Marie is just not going to get more events or coverage than Mary and we know that.  And Alex still has several patronages that she supports.  It's terrible that they had that poll because it's a bunch of bull.  We all know that F&M should not have such high numbers.

What is the expectation of Jokke and Marie? When Jokke was married to Alex she was the only princess and so played a pivotal role, however I get the impression that now there is a CP family Jokke and his family are expected to play a far smaller role.
Are they part-time farmers/part time royals? Or is the royal thing supposed to be their full time jobs?
Mary and Fred certainly aren't doing anything other than their royal duties (hell Fred sailing and IOC is now considered part of his royal duties and if you take them out there would be very very little in his diary!) Maybe the "princess comes second" was more about understanding that they have a very small role to play in the future of the monarchy which is now all about Freds family rather than a comment about being where her priorities lie.

Marie won't get the same amount of patronages as Mary, even if she wanted to. The majority is reserved forthe CP. For one, because she is the future queen and needs to be pushed to stay in people's minds and benevolence.

As we saw with the Swedish wedding - and I am convinced Marge could have found a way to take J&M with her - they are not as important to the DRF, and people read these signs.

To judge Marie's diligence according to the few patronages she has, is pure nonsens. I think Marie does her job beautifully, when she does it. She is very natrual and comfortable with the people around her. Once people experience her, they genuinly like her, imo. She has more and more command of the Danish language and I think with time, she'll proof herself, despite what neewspapers, rag-mags, etc. write.

I believe, it's the press (again!) who creates a this picture of a not hard working women, who mooches of the Danish people, when in fact the biggest moooocher is their "beloved" CP

This has been discussed several times and basically it was thought that Marie only has so much pull since she cannot overshadow Mary.  The DRF will not allow that.  Besides, how old is Henrik?  I think that she still wants to spend time w/ her baby.

oh well maybe (not) that poor little bonbon is not allowed to work because she would so easily overshadow mary...

thinking about it, maybe that it's the palace itself that did that poll to shed a bad light on marie... unless it's to force her to put a bit more work in.

Actually, I didn't judge her for her few patronages, but for what those patronages are. And 8 engagements in three months is not a lot by any measure, especially when three of them were family celebratrions. But you're right, she's probably a lovely person. She just doesn't work very much.

And no, these numbers aren't from the press but from the DRF website.

Pretending that Marie can do whatever she likes is incredibly naive and silly. Moreover comparing her to Alex is again pointless.

Alex was the only princess in the DRF when she married and from the very beginning she was the "star". The fact that she was incredibly attractive and charismatic added to her initial appeal but at their peak Joachim and Alex were treated like the CP couple and not the spares. Fred was too busy being a playboy to actually do some real work (Wait, that's still the same isn't it?!).

Marie joined the family at a time when their popularity is falling in general and the standards and expectation people have of them has dropped. It doesn' surprise me that Marie is less popular, she's not worked very much for a number of reasons and when she does have activities she often receives less press coverage. It goes without aying then that she is going to be perceived as working less. Add to that the "fluffier" nature of some of her patronages and it's inevitable that she will not be polling well.

If all you ever see is pictures of Mary then of course you are going to believe that she is the hardest worker, does most etc. It was a popular misconception in the 80s and 90s that Diana was the hardest working member of the BRF and yet, Anne, the Queen and Prince Philip and Prince Charles all did more engagements on average than she did, but she was the one getting all the attention so people were aware of how much she was working and not so aware of how much others were doing.
I'm not saying that Marie works hard but if you don't know what she is doing then you are going to assume shes doing nothing... nobody likes a lazy bones so she is not going to be popular with people.
IMHO if Mary and Marie got the same level of media attention for everything they did Marie would soon outshine Mary and NO ONE in the DRF is going to let that happen....fact.
