Nicole That's what I think, imo it's impossible that Marge will do that so Fred will be king if things don't change.

I didn't realise that it was parliament that decided to change the constitution. I thought that it was the people who wanted Marge as Queen.

I don't think this is possible, unless the Queen begged the government and then what is she going to say? "BTW, my oldest son is a moron, his wife is a golddigging shrew, my grandson Christian may or may not be a future serial killer and I just feel too sorry for that youngest one...what is her name? Irene? Issssaaa...whatever to hand her the throne. What? OH NO, this has nothing to do with my upbringing of Fred! You imply I actually raised him! What? What's the point of having a monarchy if the whole immediate line to succession is thrown out? What is this republic you peasants keep muttering about? ? WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYING THAT WORD?? I need a smoke." Good post nicole ...a true smart-ass comment!!

Queen Ingrid endeared herself to the Danish people.....perhaps in the same way that Diana did. Prince Knud was deemed unsuitable.....perhaps for marrying a first cousin and risking genetic problems in the royal line.
There's been discussion about mental health in Mary's family. There's been discussion about Christian's specialness. There will probably be no change to Succession unless Fred and his descendants are deemed bad seeds and/or incapable of performing royal duties.

If the monarchy is at risk of being 'disolved' then the Queen will do anything she can to keep it alive. If a new law was passed giving the Queen the right to select the next monarch, then you might see a different King.

That photo was taken at a horse racing track north of Copenhagen in spring/summer 2003, IIRC. Mary was almost across the finish line herself by then!

Doesn't matter, she can't. Only Fred himself can decide to step down, and the next in line is Christian, then Izz, then the twins and THEN comes Joks. The case back when Marge was put in charge was that the CP couple had no sons, only daughters with Marge as the eldest. The throne was then to be passed on to the undesireable male cousin and his line of family. As mentioned it was the Danish people who decided to change the constitution with the budding feminist society, the image of the very clever and adorable little princess Marge, the political risk and embarresment of the not-so-clever prince Knud aligning in a smooth coalition, as the vote was for letting a female on the throne in the case of no male siblings. But I don't see what could possible be a realistic topic for a vote this time, as there IS a heir in the line of family, namely Fred, and the line of succesion is even well secured after him.
