Kind of a strange thing to celebrate. Maybe they should make it a national holiday instead. Or do they just need something to fill their calendars? I don't mean any disrespect to Queen Ingrid, BTW.

I think it's an honor thing... to remember their Mom, I suppose. Plus Ingrid would have been 100 years old so that's another reason I guess. But I have to say... why do it at the taxpayers expense when it could have been done privately behind closed doors with coffee and Ding-Dongs cupcakes. But if the Danes are happy.

Is this year the 10th anniversary of her death?
I suspect the family wants to remind the Danes of the good times and good ol' days of the family, you know when Fred and Jokke were young and there was so much hope and promise for the family... I think it's all nostalgia.

It might work against them if they're going for the nostalgia aspect. The public might look back on those days and then realize that the quality of the DRF has gone down the toilet. Thanks for the Odette. back at cha

Imagine what Queen Ingrid would say to the DRF from beyond. She'd probably be horrified by Mary's behavior and camera whoring.

Maybe it's a decoy to take the heat off talk about the twin pregnancy. Should be interesting, gives us all a chance to admire dish on Mosh. Can't wait, wonder what tasteful little outfit she'll manage for this affair. At least she'll have Fred to cling to and won't have to dela with Haakon's rejections. Should provide us plebs with some interesting viewing into how a truly loving family interacts

It would be nice if some of the Royals came from Sweden (after all Ingrid was a Swedish Princess)

The Norwegian royal family also celebrated the 100th birthday of King Olav in 2003, maybe the DRF got inspired? The NRF actually did it on the day itself, though, and IIRC, not nearly as big as a concert.

If the DRF want to celebrate Ingrid's life then they should pay for the party/concert out of their own pockets. Otherwise it is a complete waste of taxpayers' money.
I cannot imagine QEII holding a party for her mother and then shifting the cost onto the taxpayer. There would be uproar.
