http://politiken.dk/kultu...danskerne-mobber-min-far/Can't believe this article hasn't been mentioned yet. Frederik is whining about the Danes giving his dad a really hard time and saying that it is embarrassing for Denmark. He actually comes across as 1) despising the country, 2) despising its people and 3) apparently not really identifying as a Dane. Makes me even more about having to pay for his upkeep!

What are the Danes doing to his father, besides keeping him "in style"? Also, this is OT, but I've always wondered why was Fred "obliged" to marry a non dane? Is this a compulsory/tradition DRF thing, like the name of the heir?

When did Fred start using "bullying" in his vocabulary? Oh, right. Fred lives with it and experiences it first-hand. Mary knows all about bullying.....publicly campaigning against it and privately mastering it.
Fred really needs to realize.... "shouldn't bite the hand that feeds."

Also, this is OT, but I've always wondered why was Fred "obliged" to marry a non dane? Is this a compulsory/tradition DRF thing, like the name of the heir? Neither are hard and fast rules. As for the names, it's been a Christian/Frederik alternate for several centuries, so only a very strong personality would have the where with all to break from that. It would (needlessly, but that never stopped anyone) set tongues wagging across the nation. Too much distraction. Possibly news talk shows dedicating a whole hour to all the why/what's wrong with them peckering. Anything negative as we know, is not good for the DRF. As for the non-Dane thing, again, not a hard and fast rule, but Daisy's point of view is that in a country of only 5 million people, the wrong in-laws would be all over the news, be included in more advantageous social circles, rumours of favours, tit for tat, etc. Publicity seekers would be an overbearing presence in such a small nation. Again, I can see where she is coming from, but it all kind of backfired with the Slluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpppppppppppppppppppsons, didn't it!? Plus, I think it is a great miscalculation of the discreet reverance of a mostly middle class and prosperous nation. Now, if the rule should really be marry a royal girl (obviously a non-Dane), then that's something else. But Fred didn't do that, either!

Fred is correct that Henrik is picked on too much, but you know, at this point it's been happening for nearly 45 years and there is nothing for him to gain if he is actually whinging about it.
I like that he does stand up for his dad when everyone would gladly have him continuing to pout about his father's rough child-rearing style, but there are other places where Fred could better channel his frustrations.
I say chalk it all up to his impotence in his marriage!
If this were a fair world, the Danes would have let go of the too easy scapegoat of the flashy Frenchman married to their queen and really piled on the vacuous idiocy and materialism of their future queen!

Thank You, Cece . Interesting idea, but I've always seen the danes more discreet and forgiving than the spaniards, for example, and all our royal's in law's have managed to avoid the press very well for the most part(Letizia's sister being the exception). I guess it depends on the family, if they really want the perks of the royal association, some kms are not going to get in their way

I agree. shut-the-fuck-up frederik! Blaming everybody and their moms for your family problems. In the Danish constitution it says that every Dane has the right to run their mouth so... (I think? ) He needs to understand they are public people therefore subject to public criticism. He should have known that by now. I don't think Queen Henrik cares anymore if wanted to he would defend himself. (IMO) Shame on him for talking shit to the people that sign his welfare checks and provide him with good public housing. I don't think he will ever realize that the Danes are his paymasters. When someone talks shit to the boss they get fired that instant.

I agree, and I've actually always stood up for him a bit (about the language bit at least) which is perhaps why it really bothers me with this "the Danes are bullies!" thing. He could have said "my father has been very unfairly criticized by some/a lot of people", but no, he has to go and make it about "the Danes", also illustrating quite obivously that he considers himself apart from that group.

EXACTLY shoshanah..and he can man up while he's at it!! I do agree with Cece though, that at least it's nice he's defending his dad. But considering how many times I have read about what happened a few years ago; specifically when Henrik went off I believe to Chateau Cayx to sulk for lack of a better word, about his lack of an important title. The things I read implied that he was sorta jealous of Frederik in a way because he came second to his mother in rank. I doubt that Henrik's duties through the years have changed that many things for the better in Denmark to where he would think he's " saved the country." He married Daisy knowing what his title and position were going to be, so make peace with that. After all, your lifestyle is better than you would have had it as Count de Monpezant!! So for Fred to stand by him regarding this topic; I think that's very good of him.

What a fucking loser, why can he not stand up for his daughter, who is paraded around like a street urchin and made to wear Xian's hand me downs and hole-y shoes and wrinkled clothes? Henrik has probably made peace with the fact that he will always be criticized, but Isabella is just starting out and not being treated well.

shosh, I'd imagine Fred is impotent in the face of Mary's horrible treatment of Izzy so it's easier for him to take it out elsewhere. However, this new book on Henrik, which is the source of Fred's whinging, looks interesting. There may be some good goss on Mary in there, too. All between-the-lines sort of stuff, of course, but easily discerned for those who may have the propensity!

Derf's comments were part of some interviews done for a book on Henri -Portrait of a Prince. Daisy, Dame, Derf and Jokke were interviewed. Derf says that his daddy has been bullied by Danes for his language abilities as well as the fact that he has the vineyard and wine making + had innovative methods that had not been introduced in DK.Danes were using the principles Jantelov to criticice and bully pappa .The danes are not happy that this foreigner has succeded... On another note: Henri revealed that he has friends with ears on the ground and knows the rumours around about him-for example that he has been violent towards Daisy and beats her up + that he is gay... henrik-jeg-kender-rygtet-om-hustruvold http://www.bt.dk/royale/p...nder-rygtet-om-hustruvoldDerf is such a whiner. Don't these peopel know that they are privilledged???
