Just try to imagine Queen Margrethe, her suddenly confident son Frederik and his wife Crown Princess Katja with twins Fizzle and Fuzzle along, to visit the tacky Gold Coast abode of the former princess of Denmark for a birthday party for the tundra-reject Xian, with a blow up slip-n-slide in the front garden and lots of Freckled Gargoyles with cupcake crumbs stuck to their chins by the stickiness of cola stains.

Not. gonna. happen.

Well done, Alex!

What is it with F&M's kids and the licking the windows pose?  It seemed kind of funny when Iz did it but when X who is almost 5 does it (esp after his younger sister did it) it looks strange.

And how long has it been since poor little Iz has had her hair washed, or since X has washed his face?  They both look like dirty little street urchins.  Those poor kids always (esp Iz) look neglected.   Thumb down

*I'll give F&M the benefit of the doubt and believe that maybe, just maybe these pics were taken at the end of the party and that the kids didn't show up looking like that. Wink

I agree with you Agatha, but unfortunately there has been a precedent set by Mary and Fred when it comes to their daughter.  She has been shown far too many times in clothes that either don't fit her, were once Christian's, or not properly dressed for the climate (i.e. the ski trip photos of Iz without gloves when everyone else had gloves.  Her hands were bright red and she was crying).  With all their money and resources, there is no excuse for Iz wearing clothes that don't fit her or shoes with holes in them.  Like I said, I can understand if the pics were taken at the end of the day (and it looks like they were, so no big deal), but there have been too many other pics taken with these kids in inappropriate clothes or looking like they hadn't been washed or properly cared for.

For example:

Grasten 2010
Verbier 2009
Verbier 2010
Australia 2008 (in Sydney)
Legoland 2010 (summer)
Grasten 2007 (the pics of Iz with the giant hat and Mary laughing at her when she started screaming)

Oh, and let's not forget the episode on the playground in Tasmania in 2008 when Iz showed up wearing a mink vest.   Nono  From one extreme to the other it seems.

What I mean is that I apologize for jumping to conclusions, but as you can see, there have been far too many incidents with Isabella that it will take a while for me to stop assuming the worst with her care and grooming.

What strange new ideas in Denmark! Children playing!

I'm starting to think better of Fred. The last couple of times he's been pictured with his children he seems interested in them, carries Iz and doesn't seem to need 3 nannies during short periods of time. Unlike his wife, he was brought up thinking that seeing your parents once a day was normal, he doesn't know anything else. But Mary seems to have embraced Margrethe's way: her children are lucky if they see her once a day when she is in Denmark. When she is in public with her children for 2 minutes there are two options: a)there are nannies taking care of them b) She doesn't seem able to handle them.

Isabella really is adorable and it lookss to me like Fred seems very attentive to her at the moment - good to see! Fred looks like shit though - tired and old and not very "there". Reality can be such a bitch it seeems..
