Does anyone know of what kind of relationship the late Duke had with his kids?  Most of them did not look solemn enough for me.

Also wasn't the late Duke rumored to be homosexual?

I recall that his daughter Margarita talked about the illegitimate child that he had with their former housekeeper. I don't know about any other of the late Duke's relationships.

I've never heard of the Duke being gay.  His brother, though, is rumored to be homosexual.

Carlos-Hugo always had a strained relationship with his children.  They had a rough upbringing with parents whose fighting for a throne and a cause ruined their marriage and not to say that Irene's family didn't much approve of their dad in the beginning.  But I think towards the end of his life, they all made up.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought Maxima's smile was off putting.  The smirk wasn't so bad, but in some pictures she's got what looks to me like a full on grin.  Generally I like Maxima, but why grin at a funeral?  *sigh*

Are veils common at Catholic funerals in Europe? I'm a Roman Catholic, but I rarely see a woman/girl wearing a veil during Mass.

I'm Roman Catholic and went to a Catholic school.  One of our teachers told us that after Vatican II in 1965 the veils/head covering for women were tossed out (apparently when she had to put a tissue over her head once when she forgot her veil).  Some of the older generation kept their veils.  Other than that I can't add anything that hasn't been said.

Maxima has a special talent for looking especially tacky on funerals

I thought she dressed decently this time. I still remember her clown look at the funeral of one of hubby's grandparents

LOL!  Too much sugar will definitely do that to you.  Thankfully, this place is just what the doctor ordered.

Maxi, grinning like that at funerals like that just isn't done. It's uncouth and hardly becoming of a lady. Nono But then... you're hardly a lady, are you?  Snare
