Secondly, if I ever decide to take up bulimia, I know where to go to make myself sick  It's not so much what she wrote, as the comments afterwards. Didn't realize there were so many sad individuals out there in need of a life. I don't get this celebrity and idol worship, don't understand for "real" celebrities like Hollywood A-listers and the likes of Bono and certainly don't understand it for Z-listers like Amber.

So...this Amber Petty person...who I'd never heard of until stumbling upon her here...is, in my opinion, worse than all the US reality TV divas I hate so much.  I read this blog post and...well I don't think I can adequately put into words what I felt, so I'll sum it up with just one:

I can not for the life of me understand why Mary hangs on to her other than the fact that Amber just knows too much. 

I think she might have been giving Mary a little bit of a veiled threat there, with the whole priceless friendship thing and the pointed remark about not divulging details.  I kind of got the impression that she was implying that as long as they are friends she will not divulge on Mary, but it's kind of hard to pull tone and inflection from a blog post, you know?  If she was speaking it, I'd know for sure.  With women, it's not necessarily WHAT you say, as it is HOW YOU SAY IT.  (I have yet been unsuccessful in convincing my husband of this when he admonishes me for thinking the worst of another woman, even if later it all becomes crystal clear.  Women, in my experience, are much more about reading between the lines, undertones, veiled comments....in general we're masters of The Mind Games.  But we know that.  Men on the other hand have a greater tendancy to take things at face value.  So it's no wonder that men will claim endlessly that they simply do not understand women.  Of course not, darlings.  We wouldn't give you the upper hand!)

But anyway, I think Amber is just a 40-year old who desperately tries to come across as someone who is perfectly fine with it, because if she can convince others she might just convince herself too.  But on the inside she's screaming with rage and disappointment about it.  I dont think she realises how much of her true feelings she gives away when talking about how her party was the "hens night, wedding, baby shower, Tupperware Party etc" that she's never had. I also read/hear "unlikely to ever have those things".  To me that gives the impression that she secretly feels "Well, I'm 40 now....life is basically over....nothing left to aspire to....can't possibly have any of those things after turning 40".....simply because she hasn't found the right groom.  I have only this to say to her:  Honey, there is no cut off point for any of those things, not in this day and age.   

Maybe I DO read too much into this, but for me, it's blatantly obvious that she's regretful and saddened by what other women have that she doesn't, and I personally feel that is why her apartment looks the way it does:  she trying to fill a void with things because she has nothing else.  Consider that most of her decor is extremely youth oriented (dolls, cutesy knick-knacks, junky stuff.....very teenager in flavour) because she longs to hold on to her youth.  So in having these "young" things about, it implies that Amber is young at heart and hopefully others will see her as younger than her age.       

Well, that's my non-profesional and non-qualified assessment of Amber.  I see shades of myself there so maybe I'm projecting onto her, but......I don't think so.  I just feel a little sorry for her.  Just a little.

boof, I totally agree with your post, but want to add that I think part of her not talking (and making it a point of not talking) is a version of fame whoring.  It's like someone you never heard of issuing a statement announcing that they aren't going to talk about ______.  It makes you curious, even if you have no idea who that person is and even if you don't even care.  It's like saying, "I know something you don't know...."  Now pay attention to me!

The whole little bit about all the phone calls (below) seemed rather like she was trying to say, "I'm so important and since they call people must care about me because of my friend!"  Did she really get 'constant' and 'exhausting' calls.

I had to reset my head every hour as I realised that I was being distracted by the constant media calls, which is a little like playing a game of tennis with someone that keeps hitting the ball over the fence.  Frustrating, and a little exhausting.  The problem is, and always is, they are all requesting the one thing I could not and cannot give them.  Details about a private friendship and a private party.

When Mary gave birth to Christian, Amber was a D-lister at the Melbourne Cup. At one point during the Melbourne Cup proceedings she started squealing on her mobile - and told the press that "Mary just phoned me to tell me she has had her baby!". Now, at that time, we worked out that Mary was still in the delivery room.

A bald-faced lie and self-aggrandizing tactic on the part of Amber. Really, that is beyond name-dropping (Amber's main gig).

Didn't she also deny even knowing Jane Alexander-Erber when she was shacking up with her husband? And there was some real shady nonsense about how she and Chris Noth (Mr. Big) were such tight buddies after she interviewed him that she made up emails between them? Vague memories of things I've tried to forget about Amber!

The Chris Noth interview was about 10 years ago - but guess what photo features prominently on Amber's Facebook photo page? Amber and Mr Big - just a standard "post interview with pesky reporter" shot.

Thanks girls. NOt sure how I reached 100? Feels like yesterday that I first stummbled upo you all 

 I hope traffic to her blog doesn't go through the roof because of me! It just has to be seen/read to be believed its so awful and tacky. There are also some very tacky bits and pieces on her facebook wall that she has open to the public too. At one point she lost her mobile phone and was threatening a breakdown. I suspect all her texts to and from Mary were stored in there. "TWINS?! OMG! R u  still coming to my party?"

I also feel a little sorry for her Boof (and agree totally with your comments about women. My husband spends half the time thinking I am a total bitch because of my observations then they turn out to be accurate).

Can someone please confirm when she and mary became friends, how they met and what she did for a living before she was Mary's bridesmaid? This will be telling. It seems to me that all this fame whoreing and d-listing occured only after the wedding.


I can't imagine having this sort of over the top 40th and justify it simply because I didn't have a wedding etc
